What a pain! And I thought you'd solved the issue. I presume you tried (again) to delete the LW prefs. Remember that if you have a lot of incomplete files, LW can take quite a while to settle down. Which version of LW do you have? And that's windows version what?

Do you ever force resume files. Resuming files can be very effective, but in the earlier versions of LW if you had too many forced files it could could great stress on your connection quality. Only the recent beta version seems to have dealt with this issue more closely. It might even be worth you trying out the beta 4.1.7 - more details found here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...5&pagenumber=1

Unhappy Here we go again

hi

have just tried to log into Limewire and cannot connect. deleted preferences again but still nothing. i'm with another download site so i think i may just have to stick with them. spending so much time trying to resolve this stuff, not getting much else done.

like the forum though

If you're a pro user, the beta version will be at the bottom of your personal dwnld page. Otherwise go to: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/beta.shtml

Why should you need to log into LW? LW itself has no log-in function.

When LW is open, click Tools->Options & go to Bug report & click for an example. In the window that appears scroll down to the part that says: "Recieved incoming this session". If it says ‘True’ then LW has no problem with firewalls, but if 'False' it does have a prob.

So tell me the answer to the above questions & also tell me whether your bug report said 'True' or 'False'. What type of firewall do you use? What is your OS version? Do you use a router? What type of connection do you have? And where are you trying to connect from: home, work, school, etc.??

i didn't mean log in, i just opened it from the icon on the desktop and then couldn't connect. i have no firewall installed on my computer, only PAL antivirus. I am connecting from home. I am operating Windows 2000 and have Broadband.

Been into the bug report. don't have a question saying "Received Incoming This Session". Don't know what a router is. Sorry, i'm not much help.

You will have such a statement, you need to 'look harder'! I know there's a lot of text in the report, but if you look about half way down the report page you will find it.

There's something blocking your connection. We need to find out what. (A router is a device that forwards data packets along networks. A router is connected to at least two networks, commonly two LANs or WANs or a LAN and its ISP’s network. Commonly routers filter out many of the ports for internet use.) Either you have a router, a firewall, your AV is blocking or your ISP is blocking. Some investigation by you is needed to help find out what.
