Unhappy Limewire Problem

WHEN I TRY TO LOG ON TO LIMEWIRE IT GIVES ME THE MESSAGE "LIMEWIRE WAS UNABLE TO SET UP A PORT FOR INCOMING CONNECTIONS. SOME FEATURES OF LIMEWIRE MAY NNOT WORK AS EXPECTED." IT WILL NOT EVEN LET ME CONNECT

It sounds like you have absolutely no connection at all! Do your browsers work? It helps to turn your modem on. Where are you trying to connect from: home, school, work, etc. What models of modem & router do you use, what firewalls do you have, what OS version??? Oh & turn your Caps off, it looks as though you're yelling at us!

There's no dramatic differences b/w the free & pro version. Yes you will be moe competently connected. However, if you have a fundamental connection issue with something blocking LW's access, it won't make any difference. Let's sort out your issue first. Please supply the details I asked for so we can try & work thru this bit by bit. You're annonymous here so don't be afraid to tell us specifically what equipment & softw you're using. Please say the firewall types you have anyway & also modem & router models. It could be a modem-router issue! Do you use XP & SP2?

What type of connection is it & where are you connecting from (see my Q. in 1st post)? I presume you have a modem, it will say what brand it is & perhaps either on the side or bottom of the modem it will tell you what model no. it is. Is there more than one comp connected to the modem?

Make sure you set-up your firewalls as instructed here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml for XP & McAffee link can be found at bottom of that page.
So your modem is probably a Broadcom softw modem that's packaged in Dell computers. This is a link to their modems & softw drivers: http://www.modemsite.com/56k/bcm.asp
