Can you tell us your OS version, which firewall you have, version of LW, what connection devices you use (brand & model no.) Are you working off a router or is your net connection via the network. Are yo connecting from work, home, school, etc. What type of lan is it & what devices are involved? All these details are potentially very important! So please take the time to find out the answers to all of these questions.

Sorry I missed the point about Sp2 which means you're using XP. I presume you enabled LW access thru XP's firewall!?

i deactivated all firewalls and connect via LAN to the universities network. i am sorry but i dont understand what you mean with 'type of lan and devices involved'.
i totally deactivated the windows firewall. normally i use norton internet security but when i tried connecting with LW (version 4.2.2) i disabled the firewall (even the antivirus software, just in case)

thanx for your quick reply

inkho

OK I'm a bit worried here, as soon as you mentioned university, b/c many if not most uni's nowadays are blocking p2p use. To check do this test for us: Instructions & sample image for Bug Report test Is it True/False? If it's false then your access or/& other's access to you is being blocked.

Different p2p apps use different ports. I've also heard several times of one person in a dorm being able to connect using LW but their roommate not. Sounds strange hey!!! I suspect it has something to do with allowances of the main router to allow a particular port to one particular comp. You could possible try another port, but then you'd need to change all your other settings within LW & your Firewall to the new port no. !!!

Sometimes using the same port works & sometimes not. I've never used kazaalite & so I can't tell you. It'll be in your menu options somewhere. Also within LW try using Force IP. I've provided an example image but that's for port 6346. If you change this you'll also need to change it in Port option settings.
