![]() I got this constant problem with LW. Everytime I open it up it will ALWAYS close up on me after a certain period of time. It always happens at random and I can't seem to figure out what the heck it is. I run MS SP2 and I got LW PRO 4.2.2, run Internet Explorer 6.0. I opened the ports through my firewall(6346 TCP/UDP) and also selected it under the advanced options in the LW program(Force IP/Port 6346). I can go all the way up to having a turbo-charged connection quality, thats not even whats wrong, as a matter of fact, I'll be turbo-charged within 20 seconds of opening LW. It's like it says, "alright, thats all the Limewire you get for right now," and then kicks me off. I can open it up again right after it closes itself, but it will eventually close it self again. It seems like I'm the only one with this problem, I didn't find any other threads relating to this exact situation. Last edited by jimmy9; November 18th, 2004 at 08:51 PM. |

![]() Sounds like you might have some type of softw conflict. What you can try is: 1. Repair LimeWire using the Add/Remove Programs utility 2. Right-clicking the Limewire icon and going to properties and changed compatability setting to Windows 2000. 3. Update your Java version 1.4.x OR version 1.5 (take the JRE) 4. Trash the LW Preferences folder called .limewire (whilst LW is closed!) How much ram do you have? By the way, did you check your bug report instructions & sample image & is it True/False? Are there any errors showing with Java? Did you use the english or international installer? Try the above & see how you go. Last edited by Lord of the Rings; November 18th, 2004 at 11:41 PM. |

![]() Hey, it seems like my LW works perfectly now. I opened it up, left for about 1 1/2 hours, came back and it was still there! Thats a first for me, even when I had regular LW it was still closing on me. Thanks, I'll tell you what I did, just in case anyone has this problem in the future. 1. I repaired LW through the Add/Remove programs utility 2. Changed the compatability to Windows 2000, like you said 3. I have Java version 1.4-tried to update it to 1.5 but when I clicked on the link to download it, it was if I wasn't clicking anything(this usually happens also when trying to access some links from certain other webpages) 4. Trashed my .limewire folder and set up my limewire again(I guess you have to do this again after you delete the folder) I have 1GB RAM. I checked my bug report and it showed true after it connected and started climbing up to turbocharged. I didn't know how to check for Java errors, so I didn't mess with that. And last thing, I have the english version. |
