The problem pre-existed before I updated to OS 10.3.6. It was a problem even before I udated to Panther. I have been slow in acting on this for months because I had been accustomed to such slow transfer rates on my previous dial-up. My router/modem is the internal ethernet connection in my G4 Titanium. I did the bug report and the answer was true -- no firewall problem. |

An ozzy Rules Football handpass over to Stief. Or just make that I switched play over to the opposite wing. lol Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dnlds A (1st thread only) & also The best of all is part B & the last & least of all is part C hints Try not to force Resume too many files at once else it can play havoc with connection quality & result in longer than normal queueing & slower than normal settling down of LW. |

Verizon Avenue informs me that they have no peer-to-peer restrictions or filters. When I managed to connect yesterday, my downloads never exceeded 1 kb/s -- but I did see an upload reach 6 kb/s. It has to be something simple. What do I try next? |

safe boot, permissions repair, reinstall java, and retry in a new admin account (to make sure it's not some corrupt setting in your current home folder). These have all been suggested before, so something was missed along the way I guess. Other than that, an other factor would be the entourage/explorer, vs Safari/Mail, but I doubt that would make such a difference. Virus protection software? Really, these are just guesses since your setup and machine look to be more than enough to do much better. LW 4.2 is fine itself, and you've already done a clean install, so I doubt the installer was the problem. |
