Default I can't connect to the network, I'm using os 9

As you can see the title, I can't connect to the network. It says I have to connect to the network first, before I can search any files. If I try to connect manually, nothing happens.

I formatted the harddisk completely new, then installed os 9 and updated it to 9.2.2 ( it's not only because of this problem). I've done nothing else than this.
On my other mac, it runs fine under os 9.2.2, and I don't know what the problem may be. I tried to delete the preferences file, but it didn't worked.

Is there any fix for this problem? I know Limewire for os 9 has been discontinued. I hope you can help me.

And please excuse me if my english isn't perfect, it's not my first language.

Unfortunately I don't speak German but others on the forum do. So you have a choice of staying in this section of the forum or going to the dedicated Deutsch LW section (click on link.) It sounds as though a firewall or router is blocking you from connecting! Please provide your OS version, Firewalls, connection devices (modem & router) brands & model no.'s, & where you're trying to connect from (home, school, work) You can post the details here & I'll help you or else post them in the Deutsch section. Morgwen will probably help you there. Oh & make sure you have the most up to date version of Java: MRJ 2.2.6 for OS 9.2.2 OR else: MRJ 2.2.5 for OS 8.1-9.2

Don't forget to rebuild your desktop (CMD+Option during restart) after installing new sofw.

thank you for your fast respond.

I'm using os 9.2.2 on a power macintosh g3. I'm not using any firewall, i just installed the system new. I'm using a modem from cablecom, I'm connected permanently with a speed of 100 mbit/s. I'm using it at home.I hope I'm detailed enough, I don't know so much about internet & internet connection.

I tried all your steps (also these from the other thread where someone else had that problem, too), but I don't work, sorry. I says it's downloading old downloads, but nothing happens, and I didn't download anything before.

I'm still wondering WHY it don't work, because on my g3 mini tower with very similar hard- and software I have no problems.

OK have a very close look at this modem & find out its brand name & there should be a model number on there also. It could be on the top, side or bottom. Generally the top or bottom. This might be important!

It is also important to know where you are connecting from. Are yoo uconnecting from home, school, or work.

This might be incorrect b/c I've used an online translation: O.K. haben einen sehr nahen Blick an diesem Modem u. finden seinen Markennamen heraus u. sollte es Modellnummer an geben dort auch.

Did you ever try leaving LimeWire running in connecting-mode for like an hour or so? If there is a problem with blocked ports LimeWire may take a little longer to connect because LW 4.0 is still relying on slow GWebCache requests...

I never tried it. I will do it, thanks.

i think more specific modem informations aren't necesarry, ( Hope I wrote it right) because I can use the same modem with the g3 mini tower without problems. the problem must be somewhere else.

OK! But just do one thing for me please! Please do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image & if the result is 'TRUE' then I'll shut up & won't say another word; lol

Default strange...

It worked today... very strange... but that's wonderful!

I installed os x today and downloaded the file from the os x limewire. It was slow as hell, but it worked. Now I'm back on os 9 again and it connects without problems. Problem solved!

Thank you for your help, maybe it was because MRJ 2.2.6 wans't on my mac.
