What's going on? Having read all the comments and suggested fixes, I have to say that i'm getting even more confused. Having installed this software a couple of days ago i had intial connection problems i.e. couldn't connect. Tried the firewall solution and low and behold it worked. Today try to connect and no joy...what is going on? I would like some help please. |
A few suggestions b/c it could be anything that's wrong. Are you using a mainframe, camera computer, calculator or unix, cp/2 ... xcuse my sense of humour but it's hard to offer assistance if you don't tell us anything about your system. Forum rules to read before posting anything (which are listed at the top of every section of this forum): http://www.gnutellaforums.com/announ...?s=&forumid=29 Firstly, try trashing/deleting your LW preferences folder called .limewire & use your OS search engine to find it. I'd direct you except I have not a clue what operating system you're using. Where are you connecting from: home, school, work? What connection devices are you using: modem & router brand name & model numbers? How many files are you attempting to dwnld at once. And You installed LW a couple of days ago, so how many incomplete files do you have? Did you attempt to 'Resume' them or did you manually search for their sources after you opened LW? It's often a good idea to wait a while, even up to an hour to allow LW to settle down if you have a great many incomplete files & it's having difficulty connecting. |
system I'm running Windows Xp Proffesional, using an ADSL router using my home pc. All the downloads were complete there were no incomplete down loads. The green light came on for only a few sec's when i tried to connect today. |
the purge didn't work Just tried the file purge no joy... |
Thank you. So what adsl router brand name & model number? You may need to port forward to allow LW total access through your modem/router. If it uses NAT then it probably only allows LW partial access! And most/many adsl modems use NAT. |
hi! me again Hi! just to let you know managed to connect, not quite sure how i manged it, persistance, and a combination of purging and ignorance...works wonders, oh the joy's of technology. Thanks |
for future ref for future ref my adsl router is a Bt voyger 205 |
No problems. Sometimes the simplest of solutions! And there can be many depending on many variable of a particular person's computer set up & connection set up. Good luck! If you have further problems post back. But please supply as many details as possible. ;) |
Port Forwarding instructions for the BT Voyager 205 ADSL Router & use Port 6346. Read the instructions carefully & set up a static ip. This is required for port forwarding (opening a port.) You will also need to force ip on lw: Force IP instructions & sample image If you do this it will give you consistency for connection. Also as a last note: A well set-up LW can start to continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. |
