Thumbs up Finally solved my connection problem

I was finally able to track down the problem and got connected and wanted to share with you what I discovered because it may help others. The problem was one of the settings in my Norton Internet Security. The problem had to do with the Personal Firewall. I could leave Personal Firewall on, but on the Programs Tab - Manual Program Control I had LimeWire set at Block All. It worked when I changed this setting to Permit All. In the end I solved the problem on my own, but I do appreciate the responsiveness you showed along the way. Thanks.

Norton Internet Security screens and their effect on LimeWire Connections

This is the main menu for the Norton Internet Security application. I have selected the Personal Firewall option. Click the “Configure” button to go on to the next screen.

In the scrolling list of programs, select the LimeWire program and click on the Internet Access cell. See below.

Click on the Permit All option on the LimeWire line. When I first went to this screen the option that was selected was “Block All” instead of “Permit All”.

BTW, the way I found this was by first turning off Norton entirely for 5 minutes. Once I did this I was able to connect to LW immediately, so I knew it had something to do with Norton settings. Then I went back, turned on Norton, and turned on and off various settings until I found which one prevented LW connections.

Hope this helps.
