Can connect but ... Bearshare Ultrapeers suck?? Hi, Did see one mention of Bearshare-related issues/problems in the forum, but not exactly this. Can connect just fine at first. I have been using various LW versions for 2yrs or so, now on 4.0.7 Problem is, over time (<1hr I would guess) all my ultrapeer connections become Bearshare and the stats say Dropped (I/O): >90%/0%, only for these Bearshare ultrapeers. Stats are typically ~5%/0% for LimeWire ultrapeers. Naturally this means practically no search results or downloads. Are these hostile servers (I saw something about T3's mentioned elsewhere) that are trying to slow down or hijack the network? Should I copy the IP address of these Bearshare servers into Tools/Options/Filters/Hosts to filter them out ?? other ideas? Thanks! James |
Hmmm--try the newest version of LW (currently 4.2.4). New BearShare Ultrapeers should be fine . . . but your situation does sound odd. LW should normally connect to mostly other LW's. Are you running as an Ultrapeer or a leaf? |
Bearshare ultrapeers Ok, I did update to 4.2.4 (free version), but I don't think the behavior has changed. LW does initially connect mostly to LW ultrapeers, but over time they go away and get replaced (?). I would point out that the 90%/0% (I/O) Dropped stats means that I can't d/l anything or get search results, but uploads are not affected - others have no problems getting my shared files. |
