Angry connection keeps falling out

Just wondering if anyone slse is having the same problems as me.. I have only recently got a new computer and installed Limewire. everytime I connect(cable) and start a download, the connection quality instantly drops out and usually falls off totally. Downloads will keep going for a while then drops out too 0kbs, nothing will finish at this rate

Can you provide all your specifics? Your OS version, LW version, connection type & devices (modem/router brand name(s) & model number)?, Where you're connecting from (home, school, work, etc.)? How much ram & available HDD you have? What firewalls you have? Firewalls can be configured thru instructions here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

jason_dews why don't you register at this forum. Then you can get notice about replies & use pm functions etc & if you need help in the future. Wow Telstra are a bit expensive for me. The reason I was asking about your modem is that many cable & broadband modems use firewall type protection which reduces incoming. This can reduce your connectivity for purposes of p2p, games & video conferencing. You'd need to do what's known as forwarding a port which will allow LW access. That's why it's important to obtain this info. You will will need to configure your norton firewall to allow Limewire (LW) access. Instructions can be found both here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=30505
& also there's a link at the very bottom of the following page: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

Default hmm

well I clicked on them links and read all I could find but it does`nt really help much, I set up my Nortons manually to permit everyting, UPD,TCP incoming and outgoing and gave it permision to connect to or be connected to by *any* computer and its still being a pain. Will usually get like 42% of a file, semi fast and then it slows down (stops?) to 0kbs and the connection quality drops ou t(usually disconnects) . If im on any Instant messaging prog they usually drop out as well and require me to log off and sign back in before they will reconnect... Might actually have ta go buy the CDs and make the MP3s for my Ipod :O... LOL Sorry. Will keep poking through the forums I might find something thats simular to what Im going through thats already been fixed. Thanks again
