Question no bitrate

I am able to connect with my windows office xp, I am able to do searches but not downloads. I have tried looking at the firewall settings, but no change. How do you regain bitrate? I have 4.2.6 Limewire.
Thanks.

Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is your result True/False? If it's false then either a firewall on the computer or a NAT firewall in your modem/router is stopping you.

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. What firewalls you have, 2. Connection type, 3. Modem & router brand name & model numbers, 4. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is.

For now update your Java: Java 1.4.2 (click on link)

(By the way the bitrate generally refers to mp3's. Unless you're refering to kbps or KB/s)

Cool BITRATE

Hi-the test you suggested came back true. I have a 1394 Net Adapter and LAN Express IEEE 802.11 PCI Adapter. I am conecting from school-Tulane University School of Business.
I have windows firewalls and have limewire and gnutella listed under exceptions to the firewall. It seems as though every time there is an updated form of Limewire, that downloads of all type of files are very fast. After this one session though, it returns to downloading nothing.

Thank you.

You're luck if you can dwnld thru the school's network. Many schools nowadays block p2p apps. Whilst LW is closed, you could try deleting your LW prefs folder called .limewire found here: C:/Documents And Settings/your_username/.limewire

After that you could try force ip: Force IP instructions & sample image
