WHY CAN'T I CONNECT???????????????????
 

When I first installed limewire I connected with out any problems (I have a dsl and I'm not behind a firewall). Ever since then It won''t even attempt to connect. I have tried connecting to gnutellahosts.com:6346, router.limewire.com:6346 and still nothing. I'm really getting frustrated with this. Please help. btw I have winme if that makes a difference. and i also have the latest version on limewire.

What does
ping gnutellahosts.com or
ping router.limewire.com

say?

if you get a reply here, try
telnet gnutellahosts.com:6346
or the same with router.limewire.com
to check if you can access the port.

I've a similar problem although I'm behind some sort of NTserver proxy (80?!) which I know little about. When I try the suggested ping i get unknown host.

What next?

I have a similar problem. On my dial-up, reconnecting to the net fixes it. Obviously, this is not an usable solution for you.
Another thing: router.limewire.com and gnutellahosts.com, in my experience, do not have near as much reliability as another server that's larger than them. Try connecting to "gnutella.hostscache.com:6346". That particular one is usually my primary connection to GNet.
