Mac OSX 10.3 can't connect to LW anymore I've read through the threads and tried all suggestions, played with all preferences, and deleted and reinstalled. All to no avail. Everything seemed OK until I downloaded latest version of LW a couple weeks ago. Since then I can't download anything. LW says it is connecting (Quality is "Excellent" and all 5 bars are green) and a number of "connected hosts" on connections page come and go. Right now my connections page shows 3 connections as outgoing. For example, on one of them currently (keeps changing) shows Messages (I/O) is 2119/67, Bandwidth (I/O) 0.125/0.020KB/s, Dropped (I/O) 3%/0%, Protocol is Ultrapeer, Version is LimeWire/4.2.6, and Time is 13:06. However, all files selected for download say "Need more sources". I tried to browse the host I gave the numbers on but an error message pops up and says it could not browse the host 70.185.1.126:6348. Occasionally (I should say rarely) it will actually connect to ONE source and then download so slowly that it would take days to download one song. Usually I stop it but sometimes it just crashes after sitting there for a while. I have a Power Mac G5, plenty of ram, and a cable modem with Airport wireless. None of this has changed in quite a while (used to download fine). Also tried it on my old Dell PC, same results. By the way, I have also tried Acquisition and it works a little better, but still nothing to brag about. Has anyone figured this connection problem out? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, |

After LW has been open for say 30 mins do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is your result True/False? Have you updated your 10.3.x recently. That in itself has caused many problems. Sometimes the answer is to install the Combo update. Other times the solution is to install the Standalone Java update: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...update142.html Believe me this has solved many apparent issues. Also make sure you repair permissions after a Safe Boot both before & after you install new softw.: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...6094#post96094 |

Tried your suggestions - got one downloaded Thanks for the assistance. I tried your suggestions. It was a False on the bug report, so I double-checked my firewall. It was ON and Gnutella/Limewire has access to port 6346. I checked on updates for Java and OSX. Both are current. Limewire is current. After being "connected" for over 2 hours I did get one sone downloaded, but the other 13 never even started. There are 4 connected hosts according to Limewires Connections page (4 Ultrapeers, 0 Peers, 0 Connecting, 0 Standard). According to the Quality bars at bottom left of screen the downloading is Turbocharged and all 5 bars are blue. Also sharing 809 files. I'm setup as an Ultrapeer. Should I turn that off? Would it help? I have enabled OOB searching. I have 85-90% of my bandwidth dedicated to downloading. Max downloads set at 8. Freeloaders are accepted rarely and must have at least 5 files. LW is listening on port 6346. I have tried both forcing IP and not forcing without noticing a difference. There is no proxy. Any other ideas? Any at all? Thanks |

Since your incoming is false, suggests something is partially blocking LW. Some questions: 1. Connection type, 2. Modem & router brand name & model numbers, 3. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 4. Go here: http://www.u.arizona.edu/~trw/games/nat_or_not.php And ignore everything except what it says in the grey box. The ONLY thing I want to know is does it say you are using NAT or not. * You can try disabling ultrapeer capability for the moment. * Make a note of your LW Preferences & then quit LW. Now delete your LW Prefs called .limewire & found here: /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire Updating online seems to occasionally cause issues with some people. Using the standalone installers seems to fix this (even though you may already have that version.) You can try the Jum build & see if this does any better. Note this is a beta of a beta. But it does have some differences to the regular LW. |
