Dear Des- 12 yr old wiz kid

Dear 12 yr old wiz kid - Des

I read your complaint with interest, but feel that you may be missing the point slightly. We mustn't attack superb media outlets like limewire, these people are keeping the spirit of the internet alive. They are putting their faith in people to use their service correctly...and they are offering it free i.e you pay if you want. Shouldn't we be looking instead to the parents that allow their children unlimited access to the internet? Yes there is a ' block adult content' box that you should have checked but more importantly your parents should be monitering your internet use. (for example-to register to this forum you need to accept a form stating that you are over 13 - ahem!) While the internet is full of wonder it is free for all to use, and -there are some sick folks out there kiddo. Why do you think that porno mags are kept on the top shelf? Yes, out of young hand's way. The same should apply to internet access. Pornography is real, it exists, and there is a big demand for it. What we must concentrate on is educating our children to deal with what they do come across and shielding them from sights that could be damaging to their development, not censoring the media.

Best wishes to you, and much happy surfing

nicholas

If you're really a 46 yr old lorry driver from Bristol - I'm very disappointed with you!

Beware of wmv, jpg, & even wma files. These formats are used for spamming by unscrupulous organisations & some others.

Try filtering these out! Go to LW's menu Tools>Options>Filters>Keyword & individually add these words to your filtered list. These can be added or removed anytime so long as you press the Apply button.

LW itself has no control over what's shared. That's b/w the sharers (P2P.) Some points of interest on this topic are 1. Quality of Content on the Network & also 2. Fake movies & why

It is possible to control what's downlded. It is also a good idea to start to recognise the fake files out there. Generally by their size. For music it's a combination of size v's bit-rate. For movies it's definitely size & name. A very long title often not one to aim for. Those jpg & wmv files that show up in your search results as soon as you press the search button are usually spam & from the above. So filter them out 1st when possible. They are a replication of your search name but show up in all results otherwise with the same content. Often they may be named like H_A_P_P_Y So be aware; filter them out 1st.

Don't get angry, get even. 'Lord of the rings' has given you some good, practical advice anyway. Good luck with your continued searching.

Kind regards,

Well if it's movies you're after, you'd better go with bittorrent networks. Limewire being excellent for mp3's or yes porn.
What ? you're shocked to see there's porn on the net ???
Welcome to the 21st century
