Can't Connect... Firewall problems So I seem to be having the same problems lots seem to be having. When I try to connect to limewire it won't let me beucase it says my firewall is blocking it. But, I HAVE been though all the Limewire Support instructions to configure my computer to let Limewire stuff through. And all my firewall programs say they are allowing Limewire stuff though fine. But when I try to connect it still tells me my firewall is blocking it. Any other idea than what are already on the Limewire Support pages? |
Try these things: 1. Repair LimeWire using the Add/Remove Programs utility. Go to Control Panel then Add/Remove Programs & click on Limewire on the Change/Remove button & it comes up with options and one of them is Repair. Try this. 2. Right-clicking the Limewire icon and going to properties and changed compatability setting to Windows 2000. 3. Update your Java version 1.5 (take the JRE) 4. Right-click on the Limewire icon on the desktop and click on Run as. Then it should come up showing the current user and then switch it over to Administrator. 5. Delete the LW Preferences folder called .limewire (whilst LW is closed!) Found here: Windows NT 4.0 / 2000 / XP: C:/Documents And Settings/your_username/.limewire OR Windows 98 / ME: Your .limewire folder is in "C:\Documents and Settings\Username" 6. Force IP within LW: Force IP instructions & sample image After that, here's some hints: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities. |
Tried those I tried those and it still does the same thing. |
Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. OS version, 2. What firewalls you have, 3. ram, 4. HDD space available, 5. Connection type, 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers, 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? Go here & tell me what happens: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ (it should say test page was a success.) |
