![]() I'm having trouble connecting to Limewire at home. I'm running XP with the service pack. I can completely turn off my firewall and it still won't connect all it says is "connecting". I've tried enabling the firewall and adding the ports and still nothing. I deleted the preference directory and still nothing. I'm connected through a wireless connection which is a cable connection. I also have Norton's anitvirus not the norton internet security so I don't know if that has any influence on this problem or not. Help would be greatly appreciated. |

![]() Try these things: 1. Repair LimeWire using the Add/Remove Programs utility. Go to Control Panel then Add/Remove Programs & click on Limewire on the Change/Remove button & it comes up with options and one of them is Repair. Try this. 2. Right-clicking the Limewire icon and going to properties and changed compatability setting to Windows 2000. 3. Update your Java version 1.5 (take the JRE) 4. Right-click on the Limewire icon on the desktop and click on Run as. Then it should come up showing the current user and then switch it over to Administrator (but onoly if you are the admin of your comp.) * What type of wireless connection do you have? What brand & model no.'s of modem/router? * You can configure your XP firewall to allow LW full access here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml As far as Norton AV goes I'm not sure. Does it have any blocking of apps? This might not apply: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...627#post103627 Else: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=30505 * AV shouldn't affect connection but, Norton AV did for this person: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...5105#post95105 Last edited by Lord of the Rings; January 14th, 2005 at 01:49 AM. |
