There's two steps to setting up a static ip for your brand of modem. You'll find the last part at the bottom of that page in a brown link; ie: http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip-dhcp.htm |

Well today i tried to "Direct Connect" with a friend and it said i couldn't because i was behind a firewall or router. Since the second option doesn't apply to me, i think one of my programs on my computer must have a firewall that comes with it. I think this might be the problem. On a side note. I do have a router, but it's not attached to anything at the moment. Do you think that if i used the router instead of the hub, that it would make a difference? |

Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is it True/False? If it's false then you have a firewall somewhere! Either hardware or firewall softw. Which version of LW are you using? It might be wise to move up to LW 4.4 which has better firewall detection & control. |

If you are using windowsXP sp2 go to start then control panel then security center. This will show your firewall. I just re-read this thread and you said you only had sp1. sorry I missed that, but just to make sure you can go to start control panel add or remove programs and make sure the show updates is checked. Then you can scroll down and see. Last edited by fabion; January 31st, 2005 at 07:53 PM. |
