hmmmmm I used the original proxy/port and IT WORKED!! Problem is I disconnected and it no longer works, ******* campus computer police! Ok, so I have played with atleast 10 different proxy/port combos given here http://www.freeproxy.ru/download/lists/goodproxy.txt and so far squat. NOW, do I keep trying or should I give up? Also, does it matter if I use socks V4, V5, or HTTP to run a proxy/port or should I try a proxy/port for each? I would especually like to know how well that site works for anybody else. |

From what I've read some others have had success with it & not been back to complain. As far as socks 4 & 5, yes they're a little different. 5 allows a broader definition or something. See http://www.clipcode.org/messaging/socks.html I'd suggest you keep trying. I believe that proxies for socks 4 & 5 are different. If you have doubts about those ones, google for more. |

SOunds like you haven't scrolled down far enough in your option window or it's not fully showing. You might need to drag the window down. See: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...6859#post76859 as one example of what can happen. |

i read through the post and found that some of the wording on LW is different but i think i managed...but the proxy and port do not work. i searched up yahoo and they gave me tons of proxy ips but i dont know which socks to use...either 4 or 5 .. if any one can help me please reply.... and im not even sure if this post even helps MY problem.... well this is my complaint.... --> Every so often when I connect to Limewire, I get this message saying that i have no active internet connection or my firewire is blocking something. I am using Limewire through a router (Netgear RP614) and I keep getting kicked off the internet when using Limewire. I have to keep unplugging the router and replugging it back in. I've went a day without using Limewire thinking it was something else and I narrowed it down to Limewire. Is my problem with the router? Is there a firewall that is blocking my connection with Limewire and the internet connection? I got sum basic info that may help... 1.OS version - Windows XP Professional 2. Firewalls - The Netgear router has its own firewall 3. Connection type - Cable 4. Modem - Linksys model # - BEFCMU10 Router Netgear - RP614 5. I have LW version 4.8.1 PRO - recently downloaded, Java 1.5.0_02 6. isp provider - Comcast Please help. Thank you. |

St3vo28 whilst Linksys modems & routers can utilise UPnP technology, I'm not sure about Netgear. Meaning that forwarding a port might help you. You can find your model here: http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm & if you choose to do this then start with setting up a static ip, then forward a port (such as 6346), & finish off with Manual port forward instructions within LW & sample image & 2 posts after that. mojo_the_migo: Quote:
