Default Connection problem for Mac Os 9

I am running Mac Os 9.04 and for two days now Limewire will not connect. Previously it worked OK though slow as I have a 56K internal modem. Please advise me how to fix it. Thanks

Are you getting any error messages? If so, what do they state?

Which version of LW are you using? Hopefully, it's the latest for your OS.

Strongly suggest that you update to OS 9.1. which is much more suitable to the latest version of LW.

1. As many details as possible please. How much ram & HDD space? What cpu?

2. How much ram have you allocated LW?

3. What firewalls you have?

4. Connection type?

5. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?

6. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?

I am running on a G3 powerbook b&w with 65 mb of virtual memory and 64mb of built in memory (way to low, i know) i have allocated 3048k ram to LW. I have no firewalls that im aware of(I just barely got my computer back from a friend of mine who updated my os and I dont know how to check my firewalls) I have a dsl connection and my modem is a westell 2200. My router is from Melkin, i dont know the model #, sorry. And I am connecting from home.

Your ram is definitely very low! You have less ram than required to run the basic os9 let alone anything else. That's not a healthy way to be! I can't remember whether os9 uses 60 odd or 90 odd MB ram.

As for your devices, well at least one of them (Westell) uses a NAT firewall.

1. See http://www.portforward.com/westell/2...forwarding.htm But before this will work you MUST set up a static ip 1st!!! Follow the instructions & link on 2nd line. Then do the port forwarding using Port 6346

2. Within LW you'll need to force ip with port 6346: Force IP instructions & sample image

If I were you I'd look around for some scrap ram. From what I've been told, some pc type ram will work with some macs. It's definitely worth checking out. LW can accumulate ram use & if you are relying on virtual memory then you're bound to run into strife eventually! I should stress that!!!

The best I can find in a few mins are THIS & THAT!

If these are not helpful then I'll see if I can find out more tomorrow.

By the way you should have a manual for your Westell which should explain how to set up a static ip for OS9!
