Which model of linksys do you have? Many modems/routers have internal firewalls. You might need to forward a port using Port 6346. See both Linksys port forwarding & also the bottom of Port Forward.com for instructions & see if your model is listed. See also Force IP instructions & sample image which is the final step. If you need to forward a port then do these: 1. Set up a static ip 2. Forward Port 6346 3. Force IP within LW.

Have you configured your firewalls to allow LW full access?: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml (XP has its own firewall.)

Question LISTENING PORT UNABLE TO CONNECT

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND I HAVE WINDOWS XP. I FOLLOWED THE FIREWALL INSTRUCTIONS AS FOLLOWED BUT I STILL GOT THE SAME MESSAGE AND MY CONNECTION STILL WONT EVEN GET TO THE SECOND BAR. WHEN I HAD THE OLDER VERSION OF LIMEWIRE ON MY OLD LAPTOP I NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. IS THERE ANYWAY I CAN JUST GET THE OLDER LIMEWIRE VERSION BECAUSE THIS NEWER VERSION ISN'T WORKING OUT FOR ME. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS WHAT I SHOULD DO. I DOWNLOADED KAZAA BUT THEN I UNISTALLED IT BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE IT AS MUCH AS I LIKE LIMEWIRE. LIMEWIRE IS ALOT BETTER AND EASIER TO ACCESS. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP

Did you check the links I gave you above. Such as how to forward a port on a linksys. Answers No. 5 & 6 on that list will explain. That's from their own support site. And also Setting up a Static ip for Linksys PF
