Hi
Hope you dont mind - but I just spotted a couple of things in your FAQs which are incorrect.

----

(no 5)
TalkTalk is now owned by CPW. (They never were owned by tiscali, but at one point a few years ago either resold tiscali products/used tiscali backhaul services).
Whilst TT have for a long time blocked/shaped p2p (and other protocols!), since last month (apr 07) there is strong evidence that p2p is blocked between 8am up to midnight. Off peak is still speed restricted.
Some success can be achieved by using encryption, LW seems to fare better than say uTorrent.

-----

(no 16)

Ive used LW for several years on a Plusnet account and not had a problem connecting.
Test http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ results in "Your test worked!!"

PlusNet dont use port blocking for p2p. They use ellacoyas which are too intelligent to be fooled by a simple change of port.

Yes they do shape p2p traffic - but how much shaping depends on which account type you are on. The ch*apest account is heavily shaped and not recommended for p2p, whilst PAYG should give you line speed. Time of day can also affect p2p speeds as during peak-time the ch*aper accounts will see slow downs, but should still be able to connect.
Off peak should be fine for all accounts except the £9.99 one which is throttled to 256kbps.

Now some information which could very well be related to the post that you have high-lighted in 16 on your FAQ?
PlusNet accounts can be configured by the main account holder whether to allow p2p or not. This can be changed by the account holder in the control panel >> Connections >> Surf
(Safe Surf) at https://portal.plus.net/surf/
The full list of configurable ports are available from that page
If the account holder has activated "Safe Surf" then 6346 is one of the many ports that can be blocked.
The option is supposed to be there for say basic parental controls, but because it does block on port number ranges then, it wont stop a teenager determined to change the port no.
PlusNet use this disclaimer:-
"Please note: We can’t guarantee that Safe Surf will block all Peer-to-Peer and USENET traffic. Some Peer-to-Peer applications can be set to use a different port if the common port is blocked."

-----

(no 2)
Tiscali UK
Whilst the faq isnt actually incorrect - some more info - P2P during peak time hours is very heavily "discouraged", and if you do, you could find all protocols being slowed down and your connection heavily throttled for several days. :/

[edit]

Not sure why ch3ap has been caught in the swear filter?
***** = least expensive.

Default I have Rogers

Hi, I have Rogers internet.. I don't seem to have a problem running Limewire... I get 1 or 2 movies downloaded each day.. for me, that is certainly great!.. I run Utorrent and Limewire at the same time and there is no speed interuptions.. my limewire runs anywhere from 10mb/s and can hit up to 163mb/s... but it ussually sticks around 55mb/s... to me thats not to bad, so I don't supose I have anything to complain about paying only $30 for the internet and getting all my movies/music for free...

Angry

I am also experiencing the same connection issues where LW just says "Connecting..." and never does anything more. I've tried all sorts of things mentioned in the posts, and I think maybe verizon is blocking port 3128. Is that possible? I've also tried using proxies to get around that, and it's not working.
What am I to do?? Lime wire was working fine a couple days ago.

Question Stealth

Greetings! I have gone through thread after thread, just saying that so you know I have tried many things. The only thing that comes close to my proposed problem is the "stealth" part. I got that result and called Verizon and they said they are not blocking P2P filesharing and wanted to transfer me to the "Premium Support Center" which would charge for it. I'm hoping to not have to pay more to get this program running. Please let me know if there is something I can do on my end to fix this.

FYI:
Windows XP SP2 (previously installed)
DSL (data line only - no local phone service)
Verizon
No updates
Connect from Home
No other computers connected
Detached modem (Westell 6100)
LW Version 4.12.11 Pro
Java 1.6.0_01
MS Windows Firewall (disabled and LW exceptioned)

Cannot get passed "Starting Connection"
One green bar
Searches time out (obviously)
Cannot direct connect to another computer (says it's because I'm behind a firewall)

Zenelle stopped responding to my emails... Just hoping you guys can help me where Zenelle didn't. If you need more info... let me know. Oh, and I can't uninstall the Windows Firewall program... even though I would love to.

Eclipse broadband throttle P2P, I managed to get a max of 10KB/s in my short time with them.

I am having the same problem and I can't figure out how to allow port 6346 to have access. I tried the test and it came back stealth.

So I just called Comcast. I know this thread says they do NOT block p2p, but it seems anytime i try to run a p2p program... oh! my internet dies. I spoke to a very tactless customer service representitve who informed me that they (comcast customer service) had received an email just this morning stating that Comcast does not interfere with file sharing programs and in fact couldn't because Comcast doesn't monitor customers' internet usage.

even the customer service representive admitted this sounded absolutely ridiculous.

just curious, why would you send out an email declaring you do NOT do something, unlesS multitudes of people have been complaining you in DO?
