See: http://www.limewire.com/english/cont..._history.shtml

LW Pro connects to 5 peers whereas LW Basic connects to 3. There's also some other minor differences under the bonnet but you won't notice them.

Default Less?

Well that's strange.

You said only 6 peers? So if i choose to upgrade to 4.6 I will lose 24 peers from my existing 30 with 4.2.6?

That doesn't sound like a good trade at all. Perhaps I misunderstood.

³ ä¿Ë I was under the impression LW 4.2.6 also only ran under 5 peers for pro users. I can't remember how far back they reduce it. View the history of updates to see where it was changed.

As for UP's you'd be better off to talk to one of the more tech members of the forum. ö(sorry my browser's playing up with language input)

Greetings Cougar,

I believe you are running as an Ultrapeer, the same as I am presently running. My connection status Ultrapeer with 32 Peers
and 30 Leaves.

I don't always get this good of a connection, sometimes I connect as a Leaf with 5 Ultrapeers. Minimum connection status running LW Pro as LotR stated versus 3 for basic.

From my understanding LW will automatically detect what the G network needs at the time I connect, and will configure my connection status accordingly. It will also automatically upgrade my connection status to Ultrapeer if the G network needs it.

What basically happens from my understanding is as the G network is constantly (users connecting and disconnecting) changing. It will automatically detect if slower speed users need a little extra boost using my bandwith, provided I have Ultrapeer capabilities enabled. This helps out the G network and other users as some are not as fortunate as we are to have a broadband connection. They only have dialup and cannot upgrade.

BTW. My speed connection is T-1 (1.5 MB/s) on DSL with no u/l speed restrictions like ADSL. I have also connected as T-3, but don't get as my u/l, so I stay at T-1. Spammers have given T-3 connections a bad rap overall.

Thank you. That makes more sense. The discussion was about being a leaf, not an ultrapeer. Thanks.

Default Ultapeer

Ok. Now in reading what you wrote, if I am having really slow downloading of files and stuff that way, is it better to have the ultrapeer disabled then? I am still a bit confused on that issue. Me being a cable t.v. modem user and all..

Every ones system setup is a little different. Disabling UP capabilities may help some. You will just have to try and see which setting works best for you.

Also you might want to optimize LW performance. Check out this link. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=27036
