Default KB size when downloading a song

I am on a new HP notebook, windowsxp, aol.

Downloaded Limewire, no prob. When I go to download a song the KB sizes are huge, are they suppose to be so large in number, some like over 10,000kb. It took about 27 mins to download one song, didn't actually finish as it needed more resourses. I'm nervous that I will use all my memory and stuff for a couple of songs. Please advise if I should make any changes, etc on my compter Will really appreciate any help, hope I made sense. I just wanna be cool like my friends who download music! LOL Thanks agan.

Check out this link it explains music quality. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...=music+quality

The higher the bit rate = larger file sizes = better sounding music.

128 bit rate is the minimum quality standard for CD's, and are of smaller file size, which should play okay on your Note Book.

that is pretty wierd. Are you downloading songs, or music videos? If you download videos on accident, then they will be much larger,

Check out the links & links to links here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=34114
This will give you an idea about how to continue a file safely without needing to Resume it. Just reselect to downld. It will normally refresh the request without unnecessary effort for you or the G.net. Unless they've gone off-line or become busy or the connection suddenly seems a distant strength, it should work fine.

Thank you for your replies, I'm still all messed up about all this though. I looked at the links people sent, thank you. I just have a feeling I need to click on one little thing that would bring the mb amounts down. Someone asked if I was trying to download video's, no I am trying for songs. If anyone else has some suggestions I would be grateful. Thanks again to all. Have a good Sat night!

Search for a Song, and tell us the size of it. If it's way larger than what we see, then there is a problem. Do you have the latest version of LimeWire?

I think I am okay now, I have downloaded 3 songs and they sound good. It does take about a half hour per song, I"m not sure if this is the norm but I will do a search to see what has been said about it.

Wanted to say thanks for the support, it's really appreciated.

HALF HOUR? Usually songs take 1-3 minutes for me. How many KB per second? I go between 10 and 20, and I get songs really fast. I wish I could tell you what was wrong.......

Well I just finished a song which took almost 50 minutes!

The kb speed started at 1 kb, went up to 2 and 3 and then back to 1.

It was a MP3 size 5,890 128 birate

Lucky you with them only taking 3 mintues, I'd be in my glory!
