Default java headache

I was running Limewire for two weeks no problem.
I ended up getting a virus and had to take it in to get fixed and got it back. I reloaded LW and went to fire it up and I get a message that I need JAVA. So I go to the link download the version and when I go to install it, my computer tells me that I already have it installed. So I go to Add/Remove program to remove both LW and Java. LW removes normally but when I go to remove Java, it runs the installation program and again tells me that I already have it. It won't let me install it becausi I supossedly have it, but it won't let me remove it as it goes to the instalation process.

has anyone out there ever had this?

Are you clicking the change button instead of the remove button by mistake. The change button will try and re-install.

Also have you removed the J2SE Developement kit along with the J2SE Runtime. I think you may need to remove both.

If you have a registry cleaner. I would suggest running it. If not "google" for one. There are free ones available.. It sounds like some things may have been messed up in the registry if the above doesn't help.

Let us know if it helped.

*edit* didn't see your double post, Sberlin probably has the best idea *edit*
