intermittent search functionality

Please tell me what to do. Limewire 1.6d will perform the first search nicely, but then it won't do any more. The bottom left shows 0 or only a few hosts available. After 15 minutes or so, I can do another search, but only one. Then the same thing recurs. This happens over and over. I'm frustrated.

Thanks

Try 1.7 beta

Try the new 1.7 beta, a lot of problems including bad connections have been addressed in this new version.

I'm happy with it, but I must say I never had many problems with the other versions. The new 1.7 has lots of new features and you can now chat with people who also have 1.7.

Look for download in "LimeWire Beta Programs" top of the page in the Limewire forum.

Happy connecting :)

still having problems

I downloaded Limewire-1.7, but I still have the problem. Upon initial connection, I see TBits available, but after searching and selecting songs from three artists, the bottom left information starts reducing the number of bits available, eventually ending up displaying "Disconnected / no files available. Even though this is displayed, the light is green to the left, the circle displays "Disconnect" rather than "Connect", and downloading of previously selected files continues. But I can't search for more files.

I have deleted all offline internet files in C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files, I have run scandisk and defrag, and I'm not connecting to other programs on the internet except to make this reply.

Connecting

Do you try connecting with groups? Say N America / Australia

I don't usually - and have good results.

I've tried connecting with groups but I only do this when I get poor search results. It can be a bit hit & miss.

And sometimes my hosts drop to 1 - but I'm not usually searching when this happens, so I've no experience with this lack of searching when the hosts drop.

If still not connecting - come back on and post again, that will take your question back to the top of the heap again.

TruStarwarior is usually good for a few tips. Now your registered, you can send him a Private Message and ask him to help.
