Can's Connect

Hi All. Im new to Limewire and P2P in general!! I downloaded Limewire 4.8.0 just over a week ago and i have been able to connect once and now it won't connect at all. My ISP is my university and im dialling in from home. I have so far taken the following steps:

1.) Set up the Gnuttella UDP and TCP settings for my ISP.
2.) Set the limeWire settings with my firewall (Windows XP SP2)
3.) Deleted the .Limewire Folder
4.) Updated the Java software to version 5.0
5.) Tested the 6346 port. Successful
6.) Changed the compatability t0 Windows 2000

When i managed to connect with Limewire i entered a Sock v5 proxy and IP. I have tried this process over and over again and it doesn't want to work anymore.

Im using a 56k modem. Im on Windows XP Pro. Im using McAfee Antivirus 7.1 & Giant Antispyware.

Please Please Could someone set me on the right path!!

We've had 3 or 4 people in recent few days with the exact same issue. I'm surprised the university is offering a dial up service. p2p is against most school policies nowadays. And in the other cases, they could connect once, but then not connect again at all.

If port 6346 is open then it might be a program filter/blocker the isp is using. (Can you change your isp?)

After opening LW it's best to leave it some time to connect. If still not working, go to Tools>Options>Connections & untick connect on startup & press the Apply button. Then go to LW's menu File>Disconnect. Wait a minute. Then File>Connect. If this doesn't work, then close LW, then open. Leave it 10-15 mins, then go to File>Connect & leave it another 10-15 mins.
