![]() I haven't heard of anybody else using a http proxy. I know not how! Sorry. Have you tried the other types of proxy? Remember that the port no. you put into the proxy setting for LW must also be the same for the listening port. eg: port 3380 for proxy then port 3380 for listening port. Connecting from a school is always a tough call nowadays. I presume you saw: A Fix for those whose ISP's block Limewire pages 1 & 2 which has a link to alternative instructions. ANd also the xtra images I posted here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=35324 |

![]() Actually, it is not a school, I live on campus at university. Assuming I no nothing, am i able to change such proxy port stuff. All I nkow is that the http proxy works fine for msn, and I am able to put my passowrd with that one. As far as p2p is concerned the same principles apply across the world. Even in Australia ... yes I've attended Australian universities ... 4 in fact, not to mention TAFE. Nowadays schools (as a whole) tend to block p2p use one way or another. If you can use a http proxy then try it. It's worth a go. Anything is when you're being blocked. You need to be patient with proxies & try different ones. Not all work. Also try different ports outside of the 6xxx range. Last edited by Lord of the Rings; March 20th, 2005 at 03:04 PM. |

![]() Well obviously you can't forward a port at the university right? So you'll need to ... well hope for the best I guess. Could try Force IP/manual Port Forward instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say ‘Test Page was a Success’. What happens when you go there? This will tell us if port 6346 is blocked. If not then that's one good sign I guess. If you can't access that page then it means that port is blocked. I did a googly lol for http proxies for p2p & came up with these results: http proxy use for p2p I haven't read thru them all so I can't tell if they're of any help. And this Well just in case the search results changes I'll note a few: 1. http://www.itsecurity.com/papers/iss7.htm 2. http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/5006p1.html 3. http://www.zensur.freerk.com/ 4. http://compnetworking.about.com/od/homenetworking/ 5. http://www.findnot.com/?2_how_to_proxy 6. http://www.sharewareconnection.com/titles/anonymous.htm 7. http://www.youngzsoft.net/ccproxy/ 8. http://www.totalrc.net/s2h/index.jsp 9. http://www.proxyblind.org/ 10. http://java.sun.com/developer/techni...tworking/jxta/ 11. http://warez.earthreactor.com/anonymity.php |
