![]() Lime Wire starts up fine, it connects straight away and it then searches and downloads fine, but after about 5-10 minutes my internet connection disappears, Lime Wire comes up with a message saying there appears to be no internet connection and to check my firewall settings or internet connection. AOL will then not reconnect unless I restart the computer! I have tried turning off Norton completely, i've reinstalled Lime Wire 4.8.1, i've used spyware searchers to clear out any spyware but it still does it! Please can someone help me? My system details:- OS - Windows xp home Firewalls - Norton and windows are both turned off Ram - 512ddr Connection - 2mb AOL broadband Modem - BT Voyager 100 HDD free space - 10 gig |

![]() I've heard of lots of AOL problems. All with the same symptoms. What it sounds like is you're rushing into things. LW needs time to settle. After opening, leave it for 20 or more mins. Then do your searching. Also don't use the Resume button on all your files or this will have the side-fx of stealing all LW's & your computer's resources & perhaps your connection too. Some hints: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities. eg: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...028#post116028 |

![]() Go to LW's Tools>Options>Connections & untick Connect on start up & press Apply. Then close LW. Then re-open. Leave it for 15 to 20 mins. Then go to LW's menu File>Connect. Leave it for another 15 mins. See how it is then. Also, under Speed>disable Ultrappeer cap. Reduce Uploads to at least 70% or less. (By the way AOL can also be dial up. It's the same service.) What is your speed by the way? Test it here: http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedtest.asp Last edited by Lord of the Rings; March 20th, 2005 at 08:01 AM. |
