Hey, you can find out which version of java you have from going into your control panel. Click the Java icon, under the general tab click "About".
Do you have a firewall running?

Greetings Ziggi

I just did a web search for your router. It has a NAT firewall you will need to forward a port.

See this link for how to accomplish that.

Best of luck

stays on connecting

I am running a new

G4 Powerbook
60gb hd
256 MB DDR SDRAM
University LAN ( T1 I Think, it is very fast!)

On the new update limewire version 4.8.1
with Osx 10.3.8

My problem seemed to start about 3 weeks ago when i downloaded the new version of limewire at a similar time to an update of OSX

Since september i have been using limewire and have had no problems up untill this point.

1. I have tried over the last few weeks getting rid of my preferences.

2. Stoping the hint box coming up along with automatic connection.

3. Forcing ip and entering new proxies.

Its getting late now but i have spent hours and hours trying new things from ALL the forums.

I have tried the test page to see if the port 6346 is open (says its successfull).

I have even tried reinstalling the whole operating system.

All with no luck! :-(

One thing i have found that has no answer on is that when checking the bug report sample it says FALSE for Recived incoming this session.

People have said in this forums that this is bad.
But why and what can i do about it?

If it is a case of changing the proxy i have tried and failed. (I got the proxies from a google search and it said on the site i looked at "last checked today") That should work if that was the case wouldn't it?

I would be gratefull if ANYBODY could give me any suggestions for this!!

I do love LW (when it works).

gigalo865: Re-install Java using the standalone java installer. Your change has probably occured due to the OSX update. Unless your school has detected your p2p use & decided to block it. Please see: icon bouncing in Dock (click on link)

Ziggi: Remember that IF you forward a port on your modem/router, you MUST have a static ip. Otherwise next time you log on you will have a different ip address & the port will be blocked again. Steps are 1. Setting up a static ip http://www.portforward.com/trendnet/...4W1CA-dhcp.htm (make sure you complete process with link at bottom of that page.) 2. Forwarding a port: http://www.portforward.com/trendnet/...forwarding.htm 3. Firewall setting within LW Please see Force IP instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that.

You 'might' also consider updating to Java 1.5, here: Fixes for Limewire

Go to LW's menu Tools>Options>Connections & untick Connect on startup & press the Apply button. Then close LW. Then re-open. Leave it for 15-20 mins. Then go to LW's menu File>Connect & give it a good 20 mins to try to connect. Good luck!

OK but you didnt read the bottom of that thread obviously which explained what to do when OSX says you already have the version heh? Good luck! :) ( I didn't make that thread as a marker just as a quick flip thru ... you need to read it thru!)
