Was Able To Connect But Not Anymore!

Okay, at one point I was able to connect to Limewire, and now I am unable to. This is whats going on:

I can't open the link, I double click and nothing happens. I am able to connect to the internet.

I can't open the "P2P Connect" in my WinXP control panel...same thing happens.

I took the to computer to a friends house, hooked up with his internet connection, and still no connection to Limewire.

Now, my question is...what in the world is going on? I did nothing (that I know of) that affect the connection to LW. Can anyone help me??

Annoyed.

i,ve lost any connection.

i used to be able to connect to limewire,it stopped working all of a sudden. So i decided to download an upgraded version, and that wont do anything either. All it does is show a globe with a brickwall in front of it,but i,ve not touched anything to put it there. All i get is a box which says LImewire currently trying to find internet ,well how my internet broadband is on for as long as the computers on.I spoke to one of my colleagues and he said that Limewire as been stopped due to the fact that the downloading is free,i dont know how true this is but it means i,ve wasted my money two weeks ago downloading an upgrade. Can someone please help me as i,ve already disabled the windows vista firewall to see if that works, but it doesnt ,im at my whits end trying to solve whats up with it.

Same here...

:bangh: I'm also in NJ, and having the same problem. When I looked in the LimeWire directory under Program Files, I have a number of error logs. All show the following:

#
# An unexpected error has been detected by Java Runtime Environment:
#
# EXCEPTION_STACK_OVERFLOW (0xc00000fd) at pc=0x032fb087, pid=2708, tid=236
#
# Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (1.6.0_01-b06 mixed mode, sharing)
# Problematic frame:
# C [prplsf.dll+0xb087]
#
# If you would like to submit a bug report, please visit:

There are then about a gazillion lines of "Threads" - anyone else experiencing this?

lucylou22,
If you're seeing search results then you're connected...so your problem is different. Click on the link here & follow that advice.
License (click)

AnnoyedInNJ, temptationx, serenedream17, & drambuie0521,
What version of Java are you using (drambuie I know you've got 1.6.0_01)? In LW click on Help > about LW & you'll see your Java version. People using Win XP & the 1.6.0_01, reinstall this older version of Java. Use the offline installer & remove your current version of Java before you install this other one.
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5

If you're using Vista then you won't be able to use that Java 1.5, you'll have to use Java 1.6. In that case, reinstall Java 1.6.0_01. Use the JRE offline installer & remove the original Java version before installing the new one.
Java SE Downloads
If you've suddenly started seeing the firewall icon (when it wasn't there before), make sure that your software firewall is allowing LW. Reconfigure the firewall if need be.

Delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. This has fixed connection problems for some people. See point 3 in the thread below (also point 2 if you've used much older versions of LW in the past...there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will kill all of your settings within options. You'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things.
If you're using Vista you might need this info about how to show hidden files & folders within Vista: LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista

If that's no help...some people have had connection issues due to a recent Windows update. Check out this thread & see what Mickjapa108 says about it. He tells you how to check if you have this uupdate.
