Angry no connection

Limewire worked fine with aol dial up. Changed to SBCyahoo DSL. It will load up, give the tip of the day and about 5 seconds later close itself out. Have checked firewalls, nothing seems to work. Help!

I didn't want to make yet another 'Ahh my connection!!!!' thread so I'm just going to ask a few questions here, hope you don't mind.

1) Is there a minimum ammount of up or down you need to get connected to the network? I am on very slow dial up, 3 kilo bytes up, and 3 down.

2) Is there a maximum time limit for connecting? I've waited around 15 minutes for it to connect.. with no gravy.

I've tried deleting that .limewire directory and restarting my computer (I did all the steps). I'm positive it's not a firewall problem, and my ISP doesn't block any ports (none used by lw anyway). Don't know if you need all my info but here it is just incase. Thanks in advace for any light you all can shed on this.

Computer and CPU: Dell Inspiron 5100 - Pentium 4 - 2.40 GHz
Operating System and sp: Windows XP Home (service pack 2)
RAM: 256 MB Ram
HDD: ?
LimeWire Version: 4.8.1
Java Version: The latest one (Just got it this morning)
FireWalls: Notta
Modem type and model no.: PCTEL 2304WT v.92 MDC Modem

Hi DustinB

1 & 2 not as far as I know. A lot of hosts are dialup.

Try configuring your firewalls to allow LimeWire full access.
XP instructions here. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

Not sure about your other, but you can "google" it for instructions.

Sorry I should've specified, by notta I meant no firewalls. As for my xp firewall I've tried the tips on that firewalls page, as well as disabling it completely. Still no gravy, havn't got it to connect once..
