bozzy is flying high
Default "You are currently connecting to the network... Sigh*

Soo... seems I'm not the only one experiencing problems with this Limewire.

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) If using Windows Vista, please tell us whether you have an Administrator user account. I am currently running Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit with the recently updates Service Pack 1. I only have one account on this computer but I have tried running Limewire as administrator.

2. What firewalls you have? Windows Firewall is turned off and Norton's Internet Security works most of the time.

3. How much ram? 2GB

4. Hard Disk space available? 200gb

5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Wireless connection to router. Cable Internet

6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Modem: Motorola Voice Over IP Cable Modem Model #SBV5120. Router: Linksys WRT54G

7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?Home

8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. Limewire: 4.18.3 Java: 1.6 (latest version)

9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Optimum Online

10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Test passed, I got the simple page of "Your test worked"

11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. My setup is... I have one desktop connected with the modem and the router. From this base desktop I connect my laptop wirelessly to the router with NO problems, and another desktop is also connected to this router wirelessly with no problems.

12. Is this your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I have had Limewire for a couple of years now, no such problems like this.

13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes, I have the brick wall, but that has never stopped me before.

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? UPnP enabled

15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall Norton's Internet Security 2008.

16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). USA!

Funny thing in my situation is that the Limewire in my laptop works just FINE and it has the same version of LW and Operating system as the wireless connected desktop. I have all setings the same on my laptop and the affected desktop. I have even tried disabling Norton's Firewall/ Auto-Protect ( and windows firewall is always off) and it still wouldn't work. I tried Program Control on Norton allowing Limewire full access to the internet and creating a general rule allowing full access for the specific port listed as the "Listening port" and that hasn't worked. I uninstalled my current version of LW and installed an older one (4.16 I believe) and it wouldn't work either. My router is UPnP enabled. I recently downloaded the latest version of Java thinking that might be the problem but no such luck. I have tried just about everything suggested on this site, no such luck... any help.... please? <--- Me very very soon.
