OS X, on a wireless internet connection, can't connect to limewire :( At my school, we have a wireless internet connection, but whenever I use it, I am unable to use LimeWire because it claims that either the firewall is blocking the connection or I'm not connected. I can browse the internet just fine, and I've tried fixes posted on other threads, but to no avail. Is there anything else I can do?? :( Thanks! |
Most schools nowadays block p2p use b/c it uses up too much bandwidth which they pay lots of money for. There's also the security risks. You could try a proxy: A Fix for those whose ISP's block Limewire pages 1 & 2 which has a link to alternative instructions. But also try this: OK let's try this: 1. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire 2. After opening LW you will need to reset your options, but leave everything at default except the following: Go to Tools>Options>Connections & untick connect on startup & press apply button. (Also go to Tools>Options>advanced>Startup & make sure connect on startup is unticked.) 3. Go to LW's menu File>Disconnect. Wait a minute. Then go File>Connect & wait about 10-15 mins. to see if it connects. |
