More details please. Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider?
10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.

1. Win xp
2. Zone Alarm... but I have had it a long time and Limewire worked fine till lately
3. 756 ram
4. 80 gig / 57 gig left to use
5. high speed wireless / Adams Net
6. Belkin ( work before with this router) WaveRider modem for wireless, Adams Net supplied.
7. Home
8. 4.8.1 (I have even un-installed and re-installed
9. Adams Net
10. Have use several version Of LW and loved it till now.

I tried to delete the LW file as told in some of the post's, didn't work. I even tried a system resore to a day when I downloaded some MP3's... That didn't work either.

What do you suggest I do now.

Try uninstalling Java using the Add/Remove Programs control panel. Then re-install Java: Fixes for Limewire

Do you know whether your Belkin router can utilitse UPnP technology?

Also make sure your firewalls are configured: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml Make a note that it's not always wise to run 2 firewalls b/c they may interfere with each other.

I did notice that a Java automatic update had taken place around the time LW quit working.

It's same router I have always had and LW worked fine for years.

Also LW worked with ZA settings.

I will try the un-install of Java 1st.

Thanks

I un-installed Java and both updates in the add / remove.
Then went to www.java.com and re-installed Java.
Still can't connect.
What next?

Help me Mr Wizard

EEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwww.....
Air is going out of my Limewire balloon!

I need a fix.

Lord of the Rings April 13th, 2005 09:43 PM

No you chose the auto update java. Installing over the net can cause issues. Go back to my link about LW fixes & choose the Java installers & save them to your computer & then install them. Reboot before opening LW. Sometimes Java 1.4.2 works better for some compared to others.

Will do

Eye Eye Capt.
I will try again.

dbl post

Sorry for the double post....
You should kick my newbie butt.

I have un-installed Java again and am downloading the 1.4.2 file now, but it's taking awhile.

It's late and I may finish this up tomorrow.

I will post you on how it works.
Thanks again.
