Cool Have a new Mini Mac, can't connect to Limewire

Hey, Ben here....

So, I'm on a Mini Mac that runs OS X 10.3.7. I've downloaded the Limewire 4.8.1 and tried a few of the tricks that are posted in the forums, but am unable to connect. Total red bars, no greens.

*This is my first Macintosh computer and I've had it 2 days. No wireless connection, I'm at Kinko's for the moment using their free ethernet.

*I've used LimeWire before at Kinko's on my laptop. I run Windows XP on that machine.

Anyways, please help me !!

best.
ben

YOu haven't given us quite enough details. Are we supposed to guess. Are you networked with your pc?

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. What firewalls you have?
2. ram?
3. Hard Disk space available?
4. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
5. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
6. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
7. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
8. What is Kinko's?

I'd suggest macs are generally easier to connect than win pc's. So I'm a bit stumped if your pc laptop works fine at the same location. Do you connect them at the same time. That might be an issue.

If you have the mac firewall activated (not many people do) then see: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

Try deleting LW's preferences found here:
/Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire

If still not connecting then go to LW's prefs>Advanced>Firewalls & change from UPnP to manual port forward. Manual port forward instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that.

You could also try a different port no. for both the listening & forward port. eg: port 6342 or 5353 or something.
