Default Unable to Connect

Hi,

I'm hoping to accomplish several of the items on the Wish List (re: http://www.limewire.org/wishlist.shtml), So I've obtained a copy of LimeWire via CVS, and compiled it, etc. LimeWire runs alright, but, never seems to be able to connect.

I'm running linux (LFS distribution):

[frozen@frozen ~/programming/limewire/gui]$ java -version
java version "1.4.2_06"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_06-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_06-b03, mixed mode)

I changed the Listen port in the options to '55555' just in case my ISP was blocking. Still has no affect. On top of this, my ISP doesn't normally filter anything, so its unlikely this is the case.

Despite this, LimeWire wont connect, and it claims I'm behind a firewall - and I'm not, nor am I behind a router.

I was trying to find out if there was some sort of 'debug' switch to print out more messages in the terminal, but I haven't been successful in finding anything.

So here's what I do:

Code:
[frozen@frozen ~/programming/limewire/gui]$ ./run
and then, in another terminal, I'll run:

Code:
[frozen@frozen ~]$ netstat -anp
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:55555 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 26629/java
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:45100 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 26629/java
tcp 0 0 xxxxxxxxxxxxx:5214 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 26629/java
tcp 0 1 xxxxxxxxxxxxx:41639 78.39.55.102:59009 SYN_SENT 26629/java
tcp 0 1 xxxxxxxxxxxxx:41638 78.39.55.102:59009 SYN_SENT 26629/java
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:55555 0.0.0.0:* 26629/java
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:6347 0.0.0.0:* 26629/java
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:5353 0.0.0.0:* 26629/java
... (a lot of other things too, but these are the relevant items) I've replaced my IP address with xxxxxxx.

Code:
[frozen@frozen ~]$ ps waxu | grep 26629
frozen 26629 0.6 9.1 244212 47400 pts/0 S 22:43 0:03 java -Djava.library.path=../lib/native/linux com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.Main
The SYN_SENT entries remain present for several minutes before disappearing. I tried to ping 78.39.55.102 without any luck. Couldn't convert it to a hostname either, so my guess it doesn't exist. So why is limewire trying to connect to it?

I hate to keep multi-posting like this, it's just that I keep coming up with more info... lol. To any mods: I'm sorry.

I was reading through the forums and found the following:

http://www.grc.com/port_6346.htm

I changed my port in Options to the above, and... well:

Protocol and Application

6346
OPEN! gnutella-svc
gnutella-svc

Odd?

I upgraded to Java 1.5, just for the heck of it. LimeWire looks a lot better now in 1.5. Didn't fix the connecting problem.

I just tried the binary version... and it works perfectly. Wonderfully fast too, I might add. Excellent connection.

So, how do I work with a crippled cvs version?

Hi,
Sorry, but I'm not as up-to-date on computer jargon. I'm new, tried everyting---doesn't work. I havn't tried this. Can you please be more specific, you know instructions for dummies! Thanks, I'm at the end of my rope and just about giving up!
