Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False? If false then you have a firewall type issue.

Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

Try downlding a video file from here & see what happens: http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml Here's an example of what speeds you can get from these magnet links: Stief’s example: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...692#post138692

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider?

As I saw from your other post that your incoming is False! If that's the case & you've disabled your firewall then it might be either your isp provider which I believe is Cox, or your connection device (modem or router)! That's why I asked for these details so we can help as ascertain where your problem lay. Help us with answers & we will try to help you.

Bizdude Win XP has its own firewall. Did you disable it or not do anything. See Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

I didn't notice any mention of UPnP capability for your Aztech DSL305EU which means you might require port forwarding. Particularly if you use it in ethernet mode.

There's 3 steps to port forwarding. And the setting up of a static ip is the 1st you must do & must do properly for this to work at all!
The steps:

1. Set up a Static ip

2. Forward port 6346 following these instructions: Guides for the Aztech DSL305EU (also includes instructions for setting up your static ip!

3. Within LW: Manual port forward instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that.

my static ip is 10.0.0.14 > i followin the steps going to network configuration to set up and subnet and gateway and dns.

and i setup 6346 in TCP, UDP port forwarding in my modem.

and i also set manually port 6346 at limewire too.

still having the same problem.

bizdude: Do TCP & UDP separately.

I think this might be more helpful to you then; see To continue files downlding (click on link) & see all the off-shoot links for xtra tips & skills you can pick up on.

nycshoegal: As far as you've told me independently, you run cable with LW 4.8.1
That's helpful but not quite as much info as I hoped for to try to ascertain the reason for your problem.

At present it looks like your isp provider (Cox), is the reason for your problem. It looks like they are using a filter on your LW. Call them up & tell them to free up their unrequested restriction of your service! Often the people at the front desk don't know what's going on but ask to speak to one of their techs. Searches with continual zero results stinks of isp intervention!
