Cannot connect

I used to have an old version of LimeWire which worked great. I upgraded to 1.6b (i think) and I couldnt connect, then I updated to Ver. 1.7 , and it still didnt fix the problem. I tried going to 1.4b, but still the same....
Please Help

Can you explain what exactly happens - does it just sit there with the button staying red or what?
