limewire wont load. Can anyone help? Can anyone help? I downloaded limewire basic and it worked fine for the first time... Downloaded a few things and everything was cool... But when I closed the program, and tried to load it later, nothing happened. When I click on the icon it does nothing. I have trid re-booting my computer, re-installing limewire, rebooting again, searching my HD for anything to do with limewire and deleting it all, re-installing it again, changing my firewall settings to allow gnutella's IP address through... Nothing seems to work. When I click to load up limewire, it just doesn't do anything anymore. Can anyone help? Cheers! Dave |
1. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire 2. If that doesn't fix it, then go to the LW program folder & open LW directly. If it opens then it means your shortcuts are corrupt & should be recreated. |
I have tried deleting everything to do with limewire and starting again and still it has no effect. The program won't load directly either. Tried contacting my ISP online (who were no help) to see if they had blocked any ports... They say not thought the guy didnt seem to know what he was talking about. i have re-set security settings, alsorts of things. I cant find any logical explaination to it... Any other ideas? |
Uninstall & then re-install Java. But downld & save the installer to your computer, don't install over the net as this might be where the problem started. A link to Java can be found in my link above. When I earlier said delete the preferences, make sure you deleted the .limewire folder. |
Limewire Not Starting I am having the same problem. I cannot get the program to start. After the splash screen, I just go to a blank page. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the program and java with no success. I finally just installed limewire on my second computer, but that is a pain also. i hope someone comes up with an answer to this problem. Or are there any other p2p programs out there as good as limewire. I really like it, but reallt want it to work. Thanks. |
twister_bc you have 2 computers. Are they networked? The networking/routing might be the issue. Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) 2. What firewalls you have? 3. How much ram? 4. Hard Disk space available? 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 9. Who is your isp provider? 10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. |
System Information Having read through some of the other posts here, I am wondering if I am having a conflict with a ATI Radeon driver. It did stop working after I changed from a Geforce FX5700 (Nvidia) to the current Radeon 9800 (ATI). My system information is as follows: 2.8 gig Pentium IV w/400fsb 1.5 gig pc800 rdram 200 gig Maxtor hard drive with 125 gig available Sapphire Radeon 9800 pro 256meg Intel pro network card Qwest DSL w/Actiontec Gateway Does anyone know for sure which ATI driver is compatible with Limewire? I have not had time to look into the problem much this weekend as my son if home and monopolizing the system in question. |
