Search problem

Got a question/problem. LW 4.8.1 on 2kPro. Never had a problem until the latest update. Now I can connect but whenever I run a search the top of the screen goes blank. I can still see connections in and out (firewall) and in the LW monitor.

What gives? I have set allow rules - port forwards but still nothing shows when I run a search.

TIA.

Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False? If false then you still have something that's at least partially blocking LW. It could be your firewall or modem/router.

Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire Also consider updating your Java to Java 1.5 if you don't have that version.

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider?

Okay, I have installed the new JRE - no help. Deleted the preferences file and repaired the install - no help.

Any ideas? It's got me beat so far...

Thanks for the help.

LOTR - cheers for the helps.

I dumped the .limewire folder again and did NOT attempt to "repair" I just launched LW as normal. The setup routine started and all seems normal.

i will say that the interface has a slightly different look than it did just a few minutes ago. I wonder if the upgrade routine is catching everything?

I appreciate your help.

bye.

The new JRE might give your LW a slightly different appearance on XP! I believe that was one of the things about Java 1.5. It offers a no. of xtras & viewing options is one of them.
