![]() I have had problems opening limewire ever since it was first run on my computer. The first time i used it, there were no problems. Now when I come to load it, nothing happens. I click on the icon and the egg timer appears for a second, then nothing. I have tried the following: Re-booting Re-installing Deleteing then re-installing Searching my HD for any trace of gnutella and limewire, deleting it, then reinstalling Re-installing Java Re-reinstalling Java Downloading the Java installation program onto my HD then re-installing Java Contacting my ISP to see if any ports have been blocked- they say not Changing my firewall settings to allow limewire to run Disabling my firewall Disabling my virus scanner NOTHING has even come close to working to my knowledge. I was considering buying the full version in the first place, but thought I would try the free one first. Glad I didnt upgrade. If the free one can't work, what hope does the pro version have? Anyone ANY more ideas at ALL on how to get this dumb program to work..? Considering formatting my HD (for different reasons. I keep getting the blue screen of death though I think its my BIOS at fault for that one)... Think that will help..? Anyone anywhere with any advice would be muchos appreciated! Cheers! Dave |

![]() A. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire If still problems after this then see below. B. Configure your firewall to allow LW full access (only wise to have one active firewall): http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml C. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? D. After configuring your firewall, do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False? If still problems after this then please answer the following details: 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) 2. What firewalls you have? 3. How much ram? 4. Hard Disk space available? 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 9. Who is your isp provider? |
