![]() Probably most of what you need to know is here: How to Direct Connect, Browse & Chat Yes firewalls can be an issue. If your ip address doesn't show just above the Direct Connect search box then it means you're firewalled. If helps if you have chat enabled & make sure you have free up & downld slots & bandwidth. |

![]() then it's probably your modem/router since many high speed ones have nat firewalls. Although many of the newer models & brands use UPnP technology, not all do. What brand & model of modem/router do you have? Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is it True/False? |

![]() Lord of the rings...I have the similar problem as fule. I canīt get the dirrect connect to work. I disabled Windows XP firewall, enabled gnutella ports but it still wouldnīt work. I have a high speed connection(Cable) which probably has a router firewall(although when I called the provider servise they said there is no). I had 2 people checking my computer and they didnīt find anything which would block the program. It definitely must be something with the router but now my question is...how can disable router firewall? Or at least how can I check if it has any? Limewire says : "Received incoming this session: false" I updated Java and reinstalled LimeWire but it still wouldnīt work. What do I do then? |

![]() I have a Cable connection 1885.72 kbps (235.715 kB/s) download and 194.768 kbps (24.346 kB/s) upload. The brand is Chello, I guess you donīt know it since itīs only in West and Central Europe. It says Arris on the modem, no number. I did try to forwrad a port but it didnīt do anything. I discussed this with another computer technician today and he said that the connection I use has no router firewall. But if itīs not the router and windows firewall, what is it then that doesnīt let me to dirrect connect? I have this problem not just on Limewire but on Yahoo and Hotmail Messenger too. It never letīs me send a file due to the firewall...which I disabled, but it still wouldnīt work. I did all these steps Limewire says about connection problems: Go to start -> Control Panel Open Network Connections. Right Click on the connection you use to connect to the network Choose Properties Go to the Advanced Tab If your firewalled is Enabled go to step 8 If you want to enable Windows XP firewall check the box (this will enable the "settings" button. If you are not interested in enabling your Windows XP firewall, hit cancel -- LimeWire will not be affected. Under Windows Firewall Options, Go to the Advanced Tab. Select internet connection used. (Local area network or the name of your connection) Hit the Setting Button. Hit the "Add..." button. In the description field add "Gnutella" Set the IP address to "127.0.0.1" Check the TCP Radio button Set the external and internal ports to 6346 Hit OK Repeat steps 9 to 13, except this time check the UDP radio button in step 12. Make sure the list of services has two items listed Gnutella, and make sure they are both checked. Click Ok ...and also added Java and Limewire on the list so that it doesnīt get firewalled but none of these things helped. What else can I do? |

![]() Are you sure XP firewall is the only one you have? I'm not a win user per se so I can't confirm whether your process of setting up the firewall is correct. It sounds like a firewall issue. Support for your modem is here: http://www.arrisi.com/consumer_products/faqs/index.asp |

![]() Thank you for your help Lord of the rings, I finally solved the problem. Guess what caused the firewall problem? My digital satelit!!!!! It is ridicilous. I would have never thought so. Today I unplugged the satelit cable(it has sort of a modem too) and there was no firewall issue anymore. YAY! |
