Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)
(to disable Xp firewall; go to the control panel, double click on Windoze Firewall, check the disable box)

Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

an you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider?

* Generally the best way to fix LW that suddenly stops working it this: Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

Well my guess is then that your speedstream is blocking ports. As far as I can ascertain, this modem only utilises UPnP whilst used in USB mode. Thus I suspect you'll need to do port forwarding. There's 3 steps with the 1st (static ip) probably the most important or else the port forwarding won't work.

The Steps:

1. Set up a Static ip (see instructions under step 2 (4rth link listed on that page!)

2. Forward port 6346; Port forwarding instructions for Speedstream 5200 which also includes instructions for setting up a static ip. Choose Limewire from the list when you reach the port forwarding stage.

3. Within LW: Manual port forward instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that.

A & B & C

Hey there again well i tried what you told me to do and i dont think that it worked because when i set up the static ip it didnt do anything everything was the same, then when i finished forwarding port i couldnt used the internet, plus it says to do the same within limewire it was already forced into 6346 and yet it didnt worked :(!!! so could you please help me out with this lil problem ok thanxxxx

try holding down your control ( Ctrl) key as hit the link.., if it works then you have a pop up problem..
try turning off any pop up software as well.
