when i right click i file and click bitzi web lookup, nothing happens... how do i fix this?

Which version of LW are you using? When you select bitzi web lookup it should open your default browser. I wonder if it's related to some security utility you have on your comp. preventing your browser opening via LW.

I am having the same trouble. Used to work fine but I just installed SP2. Everything else seems to be working as usual. still running 4.8

I joined this forum specifically for this Issue!

I am posting here mainly to try & find a fix for my problem with (Bitzi Web Lookup)feature of Limewire, but at the same time my post might help the next person who see's the same Issue!


So I will start by giving my info and hope that whom ever is going to help the 2 guys who have already posted for help, will help me too!

I am on M$ XPpro SP2 with broadband connection
I have all M$ Updates for WinXPpro
I have IE6 as a Browser
(!Don’t laugh I have it sewn up tight!)

I have a Belkin Router, but all Gnutella ports are enabled.

I have Spybot & have its Host file enabled as well as Javacool

I have (BugOff v1.10) installed

That is about all I can think of as far as utilities that might have disabled the ability to utilize the Bitzi Web Lookup feature of Limewire.

The program itself is working fine ,I am able to download & upload files perfectly & at a turbo speed !

It's just the Bitzi Web Lookup Feature that is no longer working It used to work just fine awhile back, exactly how long back I am not sure!

Things I have tried so far to fix this Issue!

I have uninstalled & reinstalled the program Limewire
I have uninstalled & reinstalled the Java Platform
I have double checked my Router settings to enable Gnutella
I have checked the M$ Firewall settings to allow Limewire
I have done a Google Search
I have joined this Forum!!!

Bugoff or the WW&DC

As I suggested in the earlier post, there's a chance you have a protection utility which prevents your browser opening via LW. Do you have such a utility which might do this? And have you ever checked your computer with a spyware program that has said LW has spyware? There's many spyware programs out there that aren't designed to cope with p2p sharing programs & may do them damage. (They think magnet links are spywares.)

What happens when you try to do a Bitzi lookup? Did it work ok before?

I dont know of any other Utility that might cause this Issue
I realize there are some small utilities that might not show up
in my Add & remove, but in an effort to figure out which program might be the culprit
I am going to list what programs I have installed.
Can you take a look at it & tell me if you see anything that might cause this Isuue?

Well that's it

But I cant think of anything other than what I have listed except for maybe
Window Worms & Doors Cleaner but I already disabled all of it's feature's and rebooted it changed nothing !
I also did the same with Bugoff's feature's too , same results!

One last question :
Could one of the IE6 browser settings cause this Issue ?
I meen if it was not set correctly?

What about reinstalling LW Pro? A .jar might have been corrupted.

If you double click on a link in another program than IE (ie outlook, Word), does it open IE to view it?

Well I had tried that 1 time prior to looking for help.
Which is actually what led me to this thread.
You see once I had tried the obvious like uninstall & reinstall the ofending program (& making sure to delete all traces of it)
I still didnt fix the Issue,so I thought I would ask you all for help !


But I do have some good news

After reading your post I thought about the IE6 & how it might be damaged or need to be repaired, so I did a lil research & came up with this M$ walkthrough as how to reinstall/repair
IE6, ver. 6.0.2900.2180, onto my PC


So I did it
I removed & reinstalled Limewire Pro one more time as well.

"That Did It"

It's Fixxed the Bitzy Web Lookup portiion of the program is working great & I am once again hitting speeds of 180kbps while download files on limewire.

Well, I am having the same issue...I have IE 6, win xp, etc...(but I do NOT have sp2, it causes oo many issues with my already unstable computer..LOL)

So, how do I find these reinstall/repair links?
I do not have LWPro, but I do have 4.8, and will update to 4.10 when my d/l's are done. But I am also have bitzi web host look up issues not coming up. All other applications that I use IE for come up.
