Default Firewalls and Routers?

Ok I have tried everything I can think of. I've uninstalled and reinstalled limewire over and over. Everytime it tells me it can't connect because "your machine does not appear to have an active Internet connection or a firewall is blocking Limewire from accessing the Internet. Please check your connection or firewall settings and then select connect from the file menu to connect limewire to the network." I tried turning off my firewalls but nothing seems to happen. Can anyone help me?!?!?!

If you are refering to the above link, I would go to where it says Start Here. There is also a thread in the link below by Lord of The Rings that might be helpful.

Default p.s. to grandpa

I forgot to mention that I have a Westell model 327W for my router/modem. This is just too weird.. I was running limewire just fine untill I had to reformat my computer, I was originally using the 4.8 I believe version of limewire and I now have the 4.9 version and I can't download anything because it says I am behind a firewall. As I stated in my other post, I do not have a firewall installed in my computer at this time. I can use internet explorer and yahoo just fine, just not limewire. I have read many posts having the same problem. Could it be a 4.9 problem?? 4.8 was working just fine, why change something if it isn't broke???
Just my little thought of the day.
Thank you in advance,
tigercubb

I think what the devolopers were trying to do is help people running through routers with the UPnP technoligy. While 4.8.1 worked fine for allot of people there were allot of people that were haveing problems. For some reason I cannot duplicate the problem that you are having, If I remove my router LW still works thus I have not been able to troubleshoot the problem. I am working with another that has the same problem but he is curently off line and it is currently at a standstill. I have a copy of 4.8.1 on my hard drive and was going to E-Mail it to him and see if installing it would solve the problem for now. So I will let you know if we find a solution.

Default firewall problem

I have tried everything that LOTR and yourself(grandpa) said to do in another post still to no avail, I have called my internet provider and no firewall is there, I run ME not XP. I have downloaded the newest version of Java, still it says that I am behind a firewall. Now I used to run on 4.8.1 and that worked great, is there a way to get that version back?? I would greatly appreciate it, this problem is driving me crazy! I have done everything I can think of to remedy the problem to no avail... Any other help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
tigercubb
