I am by no means a computer wiz.. but I am having just about the same problem you are.. except that i have a strong internet connection I use DSL as my internet provider.. but for some reason lw says I am behind a firewall, but I have no firewalls..
But to answer your question... the first thing I would do is contact your internet provider, maybe they are having problems of their own not even related to lw..
good luck to ya,
tigercubb

MoRiNpHeN, tigercubb Sorry it took slong to get back I work in construction on the road right now long days. Any way Morinphen so you did all the sugestions man I am starting to pull what little hair I have out. Could you call your ISP an ask them if they have started blocking p2p networks. If they have'nt then click on the link below it will take you to WinMX it is another p2p software it isn't verry good but it is the only other free p2p software that I know of that isn't full of spyware I have found spyware in all the other free p2p software. If you can get on line with it then we will know that you are'nt being blocked by your ISP or a firewall. I am not recomending WinMX I use it occasinally when searching for rare files and for comparisons when testing p2p software. Let us know what happens. http://www.winmx.com/

Tigercubb I am thinking you router has a firewall in it did you try port forwarding.Try unpluging your router and resetting it. let us know what happens. Also call your ISP and see if they are blocking p2p networks

Default firewall probs

Ok grandpa here goes... LOL I have verizon DSL I called them and they dont block p2p network.And I tried to restart my modem/router didnt work . They did ask me a good question though, they asked if I did any windows updates, and I had.. He said that I may have downloaded a security update that may be causing the problem.. I wonder if anyone else did a windows update and are having the same problem??? I tried using Kazaa and am having the same problem saying I am behind a firewall.. So I dont know whats going on.. I am going to try to do a restore or backup to see if it may take care of the problem.. Wish me luck for I think I may need all the luck I can get.
Thanks for all you support and quick responses. More of a reason for me to get Limewire up and running again. Great service!
Thanks again, take care,
tigercubb

Your problem might not be your isp but from my research it doesn't look healthy. It might be worth doing the test in link 7 about packet loss, etc.

Ok here's a long list of links (sorry i haven't filtered thru them all) which will give some insight into problems with Rogers isp. The 1st links refer to recent problems they have.

1. First, 2. Port 25, 3. Third, 4. Throttling DC++ p2p, 5. Five, 6. Six, 7. Tests for packet loss, etc.,

8. Filtering of Shareaza, 9. Aquisition p2p problems, Link Ten, 11. Rogers Cable Throws Down 60 GB Gauntlet,

12. Rogers Communications Cracks Down, 13. Rogers EUA Management Team Notice, 14. MPAA Warning Emails ...

BTW does Rogers offer any backup of service such as dial up. If so & you have a dial up modem it would be curious to see if you could connect with LW.
