speed problem

hello mates greetings

im having only 1 problem!!!!

my speed on downloading from others! most to most i reach 5 kb per song doesnt matter from whoever it is or watever line they use!!!! im using adsl connection on single pc without router, only adsl modem model: zte zxdsl 831....... windows xp sp 2

can anyone help me on this? the main purpose i subscribed for adsl was to download songs from the net and also to use limewire!!! but its so slow on the speed !!!!! but my surfing and my downloading from the net directly is pretty smooth and fast! only if i use a p2p program then im having speed problem!!!! is there any settings i need to do in my pc??? replies wud be very much appreciated
