![]() 1. Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link) 2. The LW port test page is still down, but you can still test if your port 6346 is open but you MUST have LW open at the same time. Go here & type in 6346: http://home.no.net/tgrumpy/ct/dex.php So what's the response to your port test? Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 3. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) 4. What firewalls you have? 5. How much ram? 6. Hard Disk space available? 7. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 8. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 9. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 10. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 11. Who is your isp provider? 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. 13. Are you on a network with other computers sharing the same connection or router? If yes, are any of those or your comp using another p2p sharing program such as LW or another? These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is. |

![]() I do apologise about the Shareaza temp stand-in port test but it does work if applied correctly. It sounds like your firewall is not properly configured. Please see the above instruction link for setting up XP firewall. Can you be more specific about your speedtouch. Do you know or can you find out the model no. This might be very important! Is there a UPnP switch on it? If yes turn it on! Do you use it via USB or ethernet connection interfacing? |

![]() Hi LOTR (and Elliot) That Broadband modem you are laughing at is the one I use, albeit an earlier model, and it is very good, easy to use and doesn't cause any problems, So don't laugh ![]() Anyway, it is a SpeedTouch 330 modem, it has a USB connection, it draws its power from your PC, i.e. it switches on an off when the PC is on or off. The lights on the front tell you when you have an internet connection, when data is going through and when there is an error. And it does not have a built in firewall. UK Bob PS. I really like my modem ![]() PPS. Here are the specs the makers: • High-speed Internet access and regular phone service on the same line. • Up to 8Mbps downstream, 832kps upstream. • Trouble free - connects to USB-port on desktop or notebook computer. - USB-bus powered (no need for AC adapter) - Plug and Play • Easy installation - Easy to use installation wizard. - Software upgradable - Supports PPPoA,PPPoE and LAN functionality • Multiple OS Support - Supports Windows 98/98 SE/2000/ME/XP - Mac OS 8.6, 9.0 and X - Linux Last edited by ukbobboy01; August 8th, 2005 at 02:09 PM. |
