Why you can't connect

Folks,

As you've probably noticed, we are currently having problems with our bootstrap server, router.limewire.com. This makes it difficult to connect to the network. We are working 24x7 to fix the problem and are hoping to resolve it by the end of the day, but we can't make any guarantees.

In the meanwhile, you might want to try placing connect3.gnutellanet.com at the top of your auto-connect host list (bottom left corner of the the Connections tab).

Thanks for your patience.

Sincerely,
Christopher Rohrs

Re: Problem fixed

I haven't been able to connect at all to any locations. What can I do or check to see what the matter is?

I havent been able to use limewire all week, so tonight i downloaded gnotella, and hated the gnotella interface but had no problems connecting. so i added the gnotella hosts to the limewire autoconnect hosts list and limewire is now connecting
connect1.gnutellanet.com
connect2.gnutellanet.com
connect3.gnutellanet.com
connect4.gnutellanet.com

Gnotella autoconnect hosts

Is there a port associated with the host mentioned in the previous post (i.e. connect1.gnutellanet.com, connect2.gnutellanet.com, connect3.gnutellanet.com, connect4.gnutellanet.com) ? Should I assume it would be 6346?

Yes, port 6346 unless otherwise specified.

I tryed everything you said (rewritting the autoconnect hosts) and it doesent even try to connect to any host whats the problem?

I too, have suffered from connection problems for about the last month. Sometimes I have to clear the discovered hosts list and the connected hosts list and immediately exit and then start the program up again. This, however, does not always work. Router.limewire.com appears to be dead most of the time, so remove this from your autoconnect list if its there. Today, the only thing that has allowed me to connect was adding the first address returned from a lookup on gnutella-again.hostscache.com

Even as I type this, I notice the number of hosts supplied from this machine is now down to 6, from a high of 120 a couple of minutes ago. Sigh.

I am growing weary of having to play all of these games just to get a decent connection. It used to work so well... I wish I knew what the underlying problem was. I have a nice DSL connection and its almost useless with current state of the gnutella network as presented by LameWire.

connect3

I am glad to hear that you guys are working on getting the connection problem fixed asap. But the connect3.gnutellanet.com (as well as connect1, 2, and 4) are not working either.

I look forward to be back up and running with Limewire (because i have been not able to get in for a long time). Hope you guys can figure out the problem.

no connection no matter what i try

Well, I've tried everything suggested here, and I can't get limewire to connect to gnutella at all. Half the time, after it's gone through the autoconnect list, I can press connect and it won;t even try to connect. Exiting and reloading does nothing. Ideas? skyhillan@aol.com
