A Fix for those whose ISP's block Limewire pages 1 - 3 which has a link to alternative instructions. This is a small possibility of working. Also changing ports.

Well thanks for the help we gave! Here's an example of how a p2p bandwidth shaper can work: Bandwidth Shaper Sample - typical of how some ISP's use it (click on link) ie: giving priority to net surfing & low priorities to p2p sharing such as the Gnutella network. Perhaps if you searched your topic a little instead of expecting hand held answers you might find an answer.

Default well finally

After messing around with Limewire, and reading these post, i finally came to somewhat of a solution. Under firewall in the LW options i chose "Do Nothing" which is not recommended. Limewire connected finally, and searches came up. YAY. But i was really limited. I could only download from people on my network(they had a blue star). And not many searches came up. Aleast right now, I am connected. Some Yellow Star searches came up, but i cant connect to them, and not alot of search results.

But now, who knows how i can better fix this. LW finally says im not behind a firewall. So why isnt it running perfectly?

Probably because the school is blocking or filtering P2P networks. Have you tried to change listening ports on LW. I do not know if it will do any good or not but you can give it a try. With LW open click on tools/options/advanced/firewall config you can change the port there.
